Christmas Decorations 2

My second post on Christmas decorations, with my first post here Christmas Decorations.

This time these are decorations taken from around my house! I had a little more time to capture these in the daytime so the lighting is better and there are more of them. So here we go:

Christmas Decorations

I know it is the new year now, and that Christmas is well and truly gone, however I have taken all of these lovely photos so you will be seeing them!

These are some photos of decorations taken around the house. This first lot are some of the decorations that could be found at my girlfriend's house. They had plenty on show, but whenever I found any time to actually go and take photos round there, it was always dark and they just didn't look as good as they did in the daytime.

When looking at them properly on my computer I found that there are only two photos that could be used, which is a real shame! But here they are!

1. A birdcage filled with lights and baubles

2. A bow placed on one of the trees

Festive baking

Now that Christmas is over, I actually have time to post everything I took during the festive period!

Here are just a few pics of some cupcakes me and my girlfriend made. The polar bears and Christmas trees are hers, mine are the snowmen!

She used butter cream to make the majority of hers whilst I used royal icing and a load of food colourings to make mine. 

And yes, they tasted delicious, if not a little sickly!

Hebden Bridge

It has been at least a week from the last time I posted, which really is not good enough, bad me! However I have been spending time with family and friends etc. so it is a little more acceptable!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas period, and there is still New Year's Eve to come so the celebrations will still be going!!

I had my family up for a few days which included my two lovely little nieces which was a real treat over Christmas. We went on a walk to a little place called Hebden Bridge here in Yorkshire. If you watch the news then every time it floods Hebden Bridge is always featured as it floods so badly!

Anyway, here are 3 snaps I took whilst on our little walk.

Macro at Home 3

This is definitely getting a LOT harder the more I do, and I'm only on number 3! There's only so much stuff you can have in one house that will make a good photo! Soon I will be home for christmas though so I can have a go round there to at least give me some more time before the next lot here! I've actually started making lists of things I could potentially shoot to make sure I don't forget any if I get some inspiration!

So, here are this weeks installments!

1. My headphones. Yes they're pink inside.
2. Beeeerrrr. I've wanted to take this photo for quite a while now. I even cut open the box to have all the tops exposed. This however took me too long to take so I have drunk half of them already. oops. Plus I like the grainy-ness to it.
3. I have a £1 Christmas tree in my room. It's crappy and awful but it was a pound!
4. I know it's not halloween anymore, but my little ghost candle holders are still out as I have nowhere to put them!
5. More alcohol?! But seen as I will be drinking this tonight I thought it should be taken.
5. Tennis balls. Been sat on my shelf too long so they got a little outing to the floor before being returned to the shelf.

More Markets

German Markets are really popular over here in England and so in every major city you will find a german market. The first german market I went to was the one in Leeds, which my post The German Markets covers.

This time however I went up to visit my girlfriend and so we went to see the german markets up there in Manchester! I spent a year working in Manchester last year and so during the Christmas period myself and colleagues would go to the german market every now and again to have some drinks on a friday evening, it was great! This time we went round all the markets looking at all the things we couldn't afford to buy as we are now poor students, but had fun taking photos of everything there!

The markets in Manchester are a lot better than in Leeds, there are more shops, wider walkways, a more chilled atmosphere and better decorations! wahey! So if you do get the change go to Manchester over Leeds, you'll have a much better time and you can actually spend time within the markets and enjoy yourself, rather than feel rushed around and forced to leave!

 Harvey Nichols shop fronts are always amazing, this one doesn't let itself down!

 This crazy thing actually sang christmas songs! And no, I have no idea who that woman is, but she pushed in front whilst I was trying to take a picture so now her photo is on the internet whether she likes it or not, uhoh!

And just to show how big it is, this is it sat on the roof infront of the clock tower!

It's Christmasssss!

With Christmas round the corner (less than a month!!eek!) I was having a think about what I love about Christmas, which, apart from family-time of course, it has to be the food. The sweets, the chocolate, the nuts, the snacks, the everything and above all, the Christmas dinner. I'm physically drooling over the thought of Christmas dinner right now. It's then that I remembered the year when I had just bought my camera and we had some amazing food at Christmas! So these were my first ever food shots, taken on my old G10 camera. Funnily enough they feature the same chocolate marshmallow treat as in my German Markets Post. Shows how delicious they really are! We also had lobster soup one day but before my mum butchered them I took this snap! 

From both of the photos you can see how much I have evolved as a photographer with basic practice and perseverance which really makes me happy to see the improvement. I left the lens hood on in the lobster photo with a flash and it left a shadow! Amateur error!

Anyway, I hope you are as excited for christmas as I am, and these don't make you too hungry!

The German Markets

I was going to make a joke with the title there, but I thought I best not...

Anyway.... yesterday, me and my girlfriend went to Leeds to go and have a browse round the german markets. I love the german markets, they're just so much fun, and last year in Manchester I went quite a few times with people from work to go and get a drink or two, or five. This year however in Leeds, it was so busy! And the walkways were tiny so everything was so crowded. And to add to that, I generally hate people. Not in a nasty way, I only really hate people as a whole, in general they are rude and annoying. People in an individual sense and small groups are fine and everyone is great that way. I may be a little grumpy...
But at the markets it was people as a whole. People who barged past, people who shoved me in my back, people who knocked me etc. So the markets wern't really too much of a success. And as we are both students this year, £4 for a small mug of mulled wine was a definite no! We actually drove back home and got a whole bottle for £3.49, wahey!

I did however take some pictures at the german market, and of other things around Leeds that were starting to look christmassy. So here they are..

Outside of the Town Hall. Someone had actually just got married when we walked past so they were having their wedding photos taken, pretty cool!

These yummy things are filled with marshmallow! They taste great but are so sickly!

And this cheeky chappy is made from solid beeswax and I thought he looked ace!
