Lotherton Landscapes

Lotherton is back! Post number three, with number one and two here:

Today's instalment is the landscapes of Lotherton Hall. As previously mention, Lotherton Hall is a really old house with surrounding gardens and a bird sanctuary. This post covers the views of the garden and the beautiful landscapes that you see from the house. The gardens are really pretty, and to be honest I much prefer shooting close up and macro shots, but these views caught my eye so I had to give it a go! here are the results:

1. View from the back of the house.
2. The entrance to the house.
3. The view from the front door.
4. A lovely little wendy house in the grounds.
5. The entrance to the  'Secret Garden'.

Which do you prefer to shoot, close ups or landscapes? Or both!

For some of these I used my Gorilla Pod. Don't forget to enter my competition where you can win one of them for yourself!

Summer Holiday : Part III

The final post about my summer holiday. Make sure you read Part I and Part II first!

Day 5

Time to leave! We had until around 4 to chill by the pool, and luckily for us it was an absolute scorcher of a day! So we spent all day sunbathing and trying to get that all important tan before we left. When 4 a rrived we had a two hour coach journey with some ridiculously drunk OAPs, and then we got our flight!
Once we landed we got our bags back and off we went to go pick up the car. At around midnight we set off back home hobbling all the way home on our spare tyre. Urgh. Finally, absolutely exhausted, we got back home and straight into bed and to sleep!

Overall it probably wasn't the best holiday, and by that I mean that it wasn't great at all, but it was still our first holiday together and it just means the next one can only be better, fingers crossed!

Here are some of the pictures I didn't put on the other two posts but I quite liked.

More Favourite Pictures

This is a pool that was in the Botanical Gardens and I loved the reflection in it!

This is the sea from on top of a cliff. It was so clear!

Even though this is out of focus I actually really like that about it and you can just make out the smiles still on our faces.

This is another pool that was in the botanical gardens.

This was a little house that was covered in ivy. The colours were really great and it was really quite quaint.

And that my friends is the summary of my summer holiday! Now I just have to wait until the next one!

Summer Holiday : Part II

Here is the continuation of my summer holiday posts, day 3 and 4! Read Part I first!

Day 3

Rain. Rain. Rain. It sucked. There were even thunderstorms! Dark cloud allllll day so we had no sunbathing, no swimming, no beach time or anything. We did however play a billion games of 'Go Fish', our holiday favourite! We are now experts at that!

Day 4

Finally a nice day. So off to the Botanical Gardens we go! With both of us loving photography it really was an ideal place for us to go, and we got to shoot things we never would get to do back home. The colours and the shapes of the plants and flowers were incredible! We spent a couple of hours there just wandering round, taking photos of everything. Here are some of my favourite photos from the day...

Stay tuned for day 5!

The hunt for the perfect photo

My first ever blog. it's a special moment. So I decided I would post my favourite photo I have ever taken. I have only just got into taking photos as a real hobby, buying my first DSLR two years ago. A few weeks ago upgraded my camera to it's big brother camera and now I'm ready to show of what I have produced!
Im yet to learn a thousand things about photography, and I am certainly not one to ask if you need to know about aperatures and shutter speeds etc. I just go with what I think will work and trial and error until I get the photo I want. And as my hunt for the perfect photo continues I vow to avoid photo editing as much as I can to find the most naturally perfect shot possible.

So here it is, the big one. My favourite photo I think I have ever taken.

It was taken just off Snake's Pass outside of Glossop in Derbyshire, around March. My girlfriend and I went for a walk just as the last bits of snow were finally drying up. I think it really shows off some great colours, it sticks (nearly!) to the ever famous 'thirds rule' that ever good photographer claims to live by and really shows how vast and open our country can be!

What do you think?
