Macro at the Park

As I said before in my post 'Playing with a new lens' I got a new lens for my birthday, and so I have been out an about trying to capture new things I couldn't capture before. I bought the lens with it in mind that I would be able to get even closer Macro photos, and in some ways, this is the case, however the minimum distance you can stand from the subject is a metre with this lens, so it gives a different effect than I expected, but it is a really nice surprise. Obviously the zoom is a lot further, however the focal distances etc are all different and so it takes different picture to what I have taken before.

Anyway I walked down to the park as it has always had some bright colours etc, and attempted to capture some macro shots to give it a try out, here are the results:

1. The fence
2. Swing chains
3. A spring
4. A swing chain
5. Tangled up chain

Okay so 3 out of 5 are the chains of swings, but they were really interesting, honest!!

Macro at Home 3

This is definitely getting a LOT harder the more I do, and I'm only on number 3! There's only so much stuff you can have in one house that will make a good photo! Soon I will be home for christmas though so I can have a go round there to at least give me some more time before the next lot here! I've actually started making lists of things I could potentially shoot to make sure I don't forget any if I get some inspiration!

If you haven't seen my other Macro at Home posts then check them out here:

Macro at Home 2

So, here are this weeks installments!

1. My headphones. Yes they're pink inside.
2. Beeeerrrr. I've wanted to take this photo for quite a while now. I even cut open the box to have all the tops exposed. This however took me too long to take so I have drunk half of them already. oops. Plus I like the grainy-ness to it.
3. I have a £1 Christmas tree in my room. It's crappy and awful but it was a pound!
4. I know it's not halloween anymore, but my little ghost candle holders are still out as I have nowhere to put them!
5. More alcohol?! But seen as I will be drinking this tonight I thought it should be taken.
5. Tennis balls. Been sat on my shelf too long so they got a little outing to the floor before being returned to the shelf.

Macro Mashup 2

Another rushed post from me as the uni work is piling up and I'm struggling to get out to take photos!

So today's post shall be a cheeky macro mashup of things I have taken which havent made it onto the blog yet! See my first Macro Mashup post for more shots!
On a quick edit point after looking through these I realised how 3 of them aren't even remotely macro! You can tell my brain was frazzled! My bad!
Today's installment consists of:

1.The birdhouse in the back garden.
2. My old hamster cage. Now there is no hamster actually in the picture, however I just really like the colours in this.
3. Pirhanas!! And yes, they do actually have gold fleck on them!
4. A Flower at Speke Hall.

An adventure

Today I went on a little adventure. I hopped in my car and off I set driving. I didn't know where I was going and I didn't really care, I was just out looking for photo opportunities. I remembered one place that I had spotted a few weeks ago which would have been the perfect photo, but I didn't have chance to stop. So I attempted to go and find it, and took photos along the way. Finally I did find it and I was too late, the majority of the leaves had fallen from the trees and so the amazingly autumnal scene I once had seen looked a lot more dreary and wintery than before.

After that disappointment, I looked over to my right and saw something I was looking to take a picture of, but figured I would never find it. My dad had taken a picture before like this whilst we were driving through Austria, and it's stuck with me ever since. Mine is a lot less impressive, but it's nice to see things like that, that remind you of things you have done.

Eventually after finding only a few things to shoot I headed home disappointed with the days haul, but happy with the memory that I had rekindled.

Anyway, here are the photos of the day:

The road that I stopped on to take some pictures...

 Some woodland shots...

This is the shot I was looking for, and you can probably imagine that a couple of weeks ago it was full of leaves on the trees - now they have all fallen to the floor. Boooooo!

This is the photo that was inspired by my dad's photo in Austria. Nowhere near as good, but I still like it.

More logs...

I was a little naughty going to get the log shots too, seen as I jumped over the fence right next to this sign to go get them. oops!

For some of these photos I used my Gorilla Pod, so don't forget to enter my competition where you can win one for yourself!
